The Inclusive Employment Australia program is about creating an inclusive future where people with disability, as well as those with injury, or health conditions can get support to find jobs and grow their career. 

Inclusive Employment Australia replaced Disability Employment Services (DES) on 1 Nov 2025.

Transition from Disability Employment Services to Inclusive Employment Australia

The Department of Social Services will be working with providers across Australia to implement the new program from the November 2025.

Customers across our services will receive communications ahead of the new service to help them understand what it means for them and anything they may need to do.

About Inclusive Employment Australia

The Inclusive Employment Australia program will help create a more inclusive future where people with disability, as well as those with injury, or health conditions can get support to find jobs and grow their career.

The program places participants at the centre of the service.

It will improve and simplify services for people looking for work, as well as employers and service providers.

More people will be able to access the new program including:

people with an assessed work capacity of less than 8 hours per week
voluntary participants not getting a Centrelink income support payment
there will no longer be a two-year limit on the time people can stay in the program.

Register for Inclusive Employment Australia with AKG

You don’t need to be connected to Centrelink to access Inclusive Employment Australia. If you fit the eligibility below, you can simply talk to our team to register for services.  

If you are receiving a support payment, it’s important we let Centrelink know that you’d like us to provide your Inclusive Employment Australia service. You can do this at your Centrelink appointment or talk to us if you’d like support through that process.  

At your first appointment, we will help you check your eligibility. 

You need to: 

  • Have a disability, injury or health condition
  • Be an Australian resident, or eligible visa holder 
  • Be between 14 and 65 years old 
  • Be open to work, from a few hours a week to a full-time position 
  • Not be studying full time (eligible school leavers may be exempt, talk to us for details) 

We can also assist you to get to your first appointment with us. Our offices are located close to Centrelink offices and public transport links, but if you need assistance, just ask.

Inclusive Employment Australia is the new name for Disability Employment Services (DES).  

Am I eligible for Inclusive Employment Australia?

You don’t need to be connected to Centrelink to access Inclusive Employment Australia. You may be eligible if you:  

  • Have a disability, injury or health condition 
  • Are an Australian resident, or eligible visa holder

I’m registered with another employment provider, how do I transfer to AKG?

If you have the WFA App, you can request to transfer to AKG directly on there. 
You can also ask your Centrelink consultant at your next appointment and they will be able to transfer you.  

Alternatively, you can speak to us and we can assist you with transferring.  

Is there a cost to your Inclusive Employment Australia service?

No, the Inclusive Employment Australia service is completely free for you. All we need is you time and a commitment to working with our team to find a job that is the right fit for you.  

AKG also provides health supports with allied health clinicians, workshops, training and financial support for work essentials, free of charge. 

Inclusive Employment Australia is funding by the Australia Government.  

How long can I receive support from AKG and the Inclusive Employment Australia service?

For as little or as long as you need. Inclusive Employment Australia is tailored to your individual goals and circumstances.  

Even once you’ve got a job, our support will continue while you’re in employment. 

I’m receiving support payments, do I need to speak to Centrelink about joining Inclusive Employment Australia?

Yes, it’s important we let Centrelink know that you’d like AKG to provide your Inclusive Employment Australia service. You can do this at your next Centrelink appointment, or our team can help you contact Centrelink and inform them.   

I’m on a NDIS plan, can I still access Inclusive Employment Australia services?

Yes, Inclusive Employment Australia can complement your NDIS supports. If you feel ready to find a job, gain work experience, or begin a certification or training, then the service is for you. 

AKG can work with your NDIS provider to create a personalised plan for you. 

I’m already employed, can I still join Inclusive Employment Australia?

Yes, there are many ways AKG can help you succeed in your job or take the next step in your career.  

We can work with your employer to implement workplace adjustments to make your workday more comfortable, advocate for adjustments to your working hours, help you to increase your work capabilities, or support you to gain a promotion or move into your next role.   

Our allied health team can also help you with strategies for managing stress and anxiety, physical exercises for keeping your body comfortable at work and coaching for motivation and confidence.  

If you desire more work, your AKG Job Coach can help you source more hours or find complimentary employment. 

My child might be eligible for Inclusive Employment Australia. What do I do?

AKG works together with parents and carers to support the people they care for into work or training. An individual must be over the age of 14 to access Inclusive Employment Australia services.  

Our team can guide you through the registration, just get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.  

Can a family member or friend refer someone to Inclusive Employment Australia with AKG?

Yes, you can support a family member or friend to connect with AKG. Our customers are also welcome to attend any appointments with a supportive family member or friend.  

Can an employer refer an employee who may be eligible and needs extra support in their role?

Yes, an employer can refer one of their employees to Inclusive Employment Australia. Our team can provide work assist services such as workplace adjustments and coaching to support your employee to succeed in their role.
