For a long time, Ken didn’t believe a job was something that could happen to him.

When he connected with our Workforce Australia team in July 2025, he was facing:

  • low self-confidence
    • anxiety around interviews and workplaces
    • limited belief in his own abilities

But things started to shift when AKG Job Coach, Bree, worked with him through one-on-one coaching to:

  • Build confidence
  • Strengthen resilience
  • Become more open to feedback
  • Step outside comfort zone

A key turning point came when he completed his First Aid qualification and attended an info session with Australian Employment Training (AET). He discovered opportunities in the security industry and committed to gaining his Security Licence.

We covered training and licence-related costs.

While completing his training, Bree referred Ken to an events role. Ken successfully secured the position after attending an interview, taking on responsibilities that included setting up and dismantling events. This opportunity allowed him to gain valuable work experience while continuing his studies.

Today, Ken is working full-time hours in the security industry and thriving in his role.

Ashley Rohamally, CEO of Australian Employment Training, praised Ken’s performance:

“Over the past three months, Ken has been primarily deployed across hospital sites where he has demonstrated reliability and a strong work ethic. Ken not only fulfils his scheduled shifts but regularly volunteers for additional shifts, showing great initiative and commitment.”

Ken’s story is a powerful reminder that employment journeys often start with confidence, not just capability.
