RAP Progress Report 2025

Reporting on our commitment to reconciliation

In keeping with AKG’s commitment to reconciliation and respect, we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where we gather today and recognise their continuing connections to land, water, sky and community.  We pay respect to your Elders and emerging community leaders.

For the past six years MAX Solutions, now part of AKG Australia, has delivered two Innovate level RAPs and we are currently in the last seven months of implementing our third Innovate RAP.

Central to the spirit of our Reconciliation Action Plans is creating a strong Indigenous voice for our Indigenous staff that is embedded in our decision making and ensuring Indigenous people have equitable access to employment and opportunities.

Our Indigenous Advisory Committee (IAC) comprises Indigenous employee representatives from across the business and acts as the forum to guide and shape how we support Indigenous people throughout the organisation.  With a change to the governance model of the committee, Indigenous employees are now more connected and engage more frequently with each other and on issues for discussion.

The IAC has engaged with Indigenous staff from across the business to ensure they are supported and aware of how a Reconciliation Action Plan operates, as well as getting involved.

We continue to make improvements in our recruitment and procurement targets, and this remains a steady focus area across the organisation.

As the business rebrands to AKG, we have commenced work on a new RAP inclusive of the whole organisation, which will be introduced in 2026.

Progress Update

We have progressed in many areas over the past 12 months including:

  • The Indigenous Advisory Committee updated its governance model to improve how it engages with Indigenous staff within the business.  Multiple meetings are now scheduled bimonthly, providing an Indigenous voice into decision making and as a forum to empower Indigenous employees across the country.
  • We celebrated the opening of our new Operation Service Centre (OSC) in Brisbane with Refiti Tovi from Turrbal Dippil conducting a Welcome to Country ceremony.
  • The RAP WG continues to operate with active participation across all business areas and divisions.  Darren Hooper, now Managing Director at AKG, continues to Chair the RAP WG .
  • The business has continued with its engagement plans to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations.
  • We continued our Indigenous Health Yarning Group for Indigenous customers in Murgon
  • We continued our Supply Nation membership and our focus on lifting our Indigenous purchasing including through our supply chain.
  • As of 30th June 2025, we have achieved a 4.2% against our 5% employment target.
  • All staff undertook a new Cultural Capability Program on the Stolen Generations as part of our Cultural Learning Strategy that builds on Indigenous Cultural Capability.
  • All staff participated in Effects of Racism training.
  • We continued our Indigenous School Based Traineeship Program.
  • We ensured a Welcome to Country or Acknowledgement was conducted at the commencement of significant events.
  • We participated in the Reconciliation Australia RAP Impact Measurement questionnaire.
  • We continued to encourage our Indigenous staff to utilise paid cultural leave to attend National Reconciliation Week, NAIDOC Week, or other significant cultural events.
  • We sponsored NAIDOC Week events in Woorabinda.
  • And we actively celebrated National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
