We are delighted to announce that our partners, RISE Ventures, opened the Indigenous Youth Oasis in Gimuy (Cairns).

Designed exclusively for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people aged between 15 and 24 living in Far North Queensland, the Indigenous Youth Coaches program focuses on youth who are not currently supported by local services. However, they will be there for all young people who need someone in their corner.

Their guiding principle: “No young person is left behind”

The Oasis was opened with a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony from Uncle Henry, with speeches and acknowledgements from Paul Synnot, CEO Indigenous Partnerships at AKG and local Councillor Trevor Tim.

Congratulations to the hard work that went into opening the Indigenous Youth Oasis and to all the local partners and stakeholders who attended the opening.
